Coaching Certifications
USA Hockey and the Coaching Education Program require both certification and registration to be eligible to coach. Registration is done online on a yearly basis, and costs for registration, background checks and coaching modules (if applicable) is reimbursable.
USA Hockey Registration
Coaches must complete a USA Hockey member registration annually, selecting COACH as the membership type. Costs are reimbursable from the club, so please save your confirmation email. Please forward your USA Hockey registration number upon completion to kbullinger@valleycityhockey.com.
Background Screening & Safesport Training
Background checks are required every two years and Safesport training is required annually. Please follow the link below to complete both of these items. Links are found under the "Quick Links" section. Screening costs are reimbursable, so please save your confirmation emails.
COACHING CERTIFICATION
Coaches must complete the following to obtain their coaching certification.
- Complete the online Foundations of Player Development pre-requisite
- Complete Age-Group Modules (if applicable)
- Temite Coach - N/A
- Mite Coach - 8u Module
- Squirt, 12U Girls or PeeWee Coach - 10/12u Module
- Bantam Coach - 13+ Module
- Complete an In-Person Coaching Clinic - Dates & Locations listed on USA Hockey site linked below.
